Dr. Lela Emad is a compassionate, experienced OB/GYN certified by the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Emad specializes in general women’s health as well as the diagnosis and treatment (surgical and non-surgical) of a full-spectrum of gynecological disorders. Before medical school, Dr. Emad studied biology as an undergraduate at Sonoma State University, graduating with high honors in 1982. She obtained her Medical Doctorate from the University of California at Davis in 1986, and began her internship and residency the same year in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. Dr. Emad finished her residency in 1989. A true fan of northern California, Dr. Emad opened her private practice in 1990 at Women’s OB/GYN Medical Group in Santa Rosa, where she has devotedly served Sonoma County women ever since.

While Dr. Emad loves her Sonoma County home, she took advantage of every opportunity to study abroad during her education. In her second year of medical school, Dr. Emad traveled to Nicaragua as a member of a health study task force with the American Medical Student Association. In her final year of medical school, Dr. Emad traveled to Calcutta, India as a part of the Sidewalk Clinic for the Homeless. She went abroad again during the second year of her residency to study at University Kabansegaan, Department of OB/GYN in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Dr. Emad stayed in Sacramento during the final year of her residency to serve as an Assistant Instructor of Operative Hysterectomy, Resection, and Ablation courses.

In her free time, Dr. Emad enjoys scuba diving, bicycling, underwater photography, hiking and traveling. After 25 years of experience, Dr. Emad continues to receive great satisfaction from helping her patients overcome their gynecologic health problems and meet their long-term lifestyle and healthcare goals. Dr. Emad is fluent in English, Spanish, and Farsi.

Amita Kachru, MD

Dr. Amita Kachru is an OB/GYN with specialty interest in Adolescent Gynecology and Teen Pregnancy. She obtained her undergraduate and master’s degree in Speech and Communication from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 1990. Dr. Kachru returned to Urbana Champaign five years later to complete a PhD program in Human and Community Development. After obtaining her PhD, Dr. Kachru attended Bryn Mawr College’s Post Baccalaureate Premedical Program in Pennsylvania, and went on to attend medical school at Michigan State University, graduating in 2004. She then completed a four-year Obstetrics and Gynecology residency in 2008 at Kaiser in Oakland, California. Dr. Kachru began her private practice with Women’s OB/GYN Medical Group in 2008, and has become an invaluable member of our care team since then.

Dr. Kachru’s diverse educational and professional backgrounds have played a vital role in shaping her interest and expertise in general women’s health, adolescent gynecology, and teen pregnancy. For ten years at Urbana Champaign, Dr. Kachru taught undergraduate courses in Rhetoric, Speech Communications, English, Feminist Critical Theory, and Cultural Studies. In her PhD program, Dr. Kachru conducted research and presented her finding with a colleague on the topic of “Short-term Behavioral Life-Skills Training for Children in Women’s Shelters, a Qualitative Analysis.” Dr. Kachru has demonstrated her impressive capacity for empathy through the accumulation of thousands of volunteer hours in the 1990s working in emotionally challenging environments. Dr. Kachru’s volunteer efforts include working as a Hospice Volunteer, an educational conference coordinator for the Illinois Family Violence Coordinating Council, a Medical Advocate for a women’s shelter, an ER volunteer, a Berkeley Needle Exchange Outreach volunteer, an elementary and high school health educator, and more.

Susan C. Logan, MD, FACOG

Dr. Susan C. Logan is a respected, caring OB/GYN certified by the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Logan attended University of California, Berkeley for her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry, graduating in 1985. Dr. Logan went on to medical school the same year at University of Southern California, School of Medicine, obtaining her Medical Doctorate in 1989. She then completed her internship and residency at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Women’s Hospital in Los Angeles through the University of Southern California. In the final year of her residency, Dr. Logan was honored with the USC Best Resident Teacher Award in OB/GYN.

Dr. Logan has been a part of Women’s OB/GYN Medical Group since 1993, and has played an integral role in building the practice with Dr. Emad. At Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, a close affiliate of Women’s OB/GYN, Dr. Logan serves as the OB/GYN Department Chair, the Antepartum Testing Medical Director, as well as the Medical Director of the Sweet Success Program. Dr. Logan’s deeply involved professional activity in the community demonstrates her resolute commitment to improving the overall healthcare available for Sonoma County women.

Shazah Khawaja, MD, FACOG

Dr. Shazah Khawaja is a conscientious OB/GYN certified by the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Khawaja completed her Bachelor of Science degree from the Sophie-Davis School of Biomedical Education in 1994. She then went on to obtain her Medical Doctorate from Ross University, graduating in 1999. Dr. Khawaja’s internship and residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology took place at Stamford Hospital, CT, Long Island College Hospital, NY, and the Brooklyn Hospital Center, NY from 2001-2005. Dr. Khawaja first joined with Women’s OB/GYN Medical Group in 2013.

Prior to beginning her private practice with Women’s OB/GYN in Santa Rosa, Dr. Khawaja gathered invaluable professional and research experience in providing women’s healthcare. She worked as the Faculty Attending Physician for The Brooklyn Hospital Center’s OB/GYN department, a research assistant to the director of reproductive endocrinology at The Albert Einstein College of Medicine, a volunteer in a Pakistani community outreach program to provide health education for women, the president of an OB/GYN private practice in New Jersey, an OB/GYN healthcare provider for mentally challenged women in New York, and more. Throughout her career, Dr. Khawaja has focused her energy on developing strong skills in minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, uro-gynecological procedures, as well as educating women on nutrition, exercise and general health awareness.

Certified Nurse-Midwives & Nurse Practitioners

Cindy Ingelsis an empathetic Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with over ten years professional experience providing women’s healthcare.Ms. Ingels obtained her undergraduate degree in Nursing from Sonoma State University in 1998, and her Master of Science Degree in Nursing from UCLA in 2002.

Since becoming a FNP, Ms. Ingles has gained invaluable experience in the promotion and maintenance of women’s health. Her professional background includes diagnosing and treating menstrual problems, vaginal infections, incontinence, osteoporosis, migraines, and pre/post menopause issues. She has also performed intrauterine insemination (IUI), provided hormone therapy, cosmetic care, prenatal care, and counseling with information regarding various women’s health issues.

Cindy Ingels has been a valued member of our practice since 2006.
